Bulk Trash:

"Bulk trash" is all the heavy, bulky stuff that you find yourself stuck with when you move into your new off campus house.

This can be something the previous tenants left behind that you can't find a use for ... sofas, mattresses, futons, or old refrigerators, TVs or other appliances, for instance.

Bulk trash can also include the things you used for move-in ... such as packing materials, boxes, or other junk that you can bag up and want to get rid of.

Every year, Georgetown partners with the D.C. Department of Public Works on bulk trash collection during move-in and move-out.

(If you have bulk trash any other time of year, call the city at 311 to schedule removal.) Your message should include:

Your name
Your address
Your phone number (preferably cell phone)
The items you need picked up

Put out all of your bulk trash after noon on the day before your pickup date. Please use your usual place of collection, making sure not to block the sidewalk.

This is a service provided to you by the Department of Public Works. Please do your part and clean up the little things left over after the big items are hauled away. It is your responsibility to keep our neighborhood looking clean and beautiful!
