Vehicle Registration
Students who bring their cars from home must register their automobiles in D.C. and must comply with the rules of Registration for Out-of-State Automobiles (ROSA).
- If your car will be in the District for 30 or more consecutive days, you are required to register and display a valid D.C. inspection sticker and tags when parked.
- Parking enforcement officials monitor the Zone 2 residential area around campus to ensure the proper registration of vehicles. If your car has been observed a second time within a fifteen-day period, you may receive a warning notice stating that your vehicle is eligible for the issuance of a ticket and/or impoundment if you fail to register.
- Before you can register your car, it must pass inspection and you must obtain a D.C. driver's license and insurance. The D.C. DMV website has useful information on registering your vehicle for the first time in the District.
All Georgetown students that have a vehicle with them at school must report their vehicle's information to the Georgetown University Registrar's Office.
